1.0. ABOUT THE MARINE AND BLUE ECONOMY CONFERENCE AND EXHIBITION (IMABEC
2025)
1.1. Introduction
The Marine and Blue Economy Conference & Exhibition (IMABEC Bayelsa 2025) is the first of an
annual conference on blue economy which shall be taking place in November every year,
focusing on sustainable ocean resource management and economic development in the Niger
Delta and entire Nigeria amidst various challenges:
Innovative financing, new technologies, capacity building, good governance and investment in
the under-developed sectors of the Blue Economy can turn current development challenges
into opportunities for peoples and communities across the Niger Delta and Nigeria as a whole.
Global leaders in the public and private sectors should, as a priority, harness investments
individually and collectively to ensure the world derives maximum benefits from the Blue
Economy while also supporting the resilience of coastal communities and the environment.
This high-level gathering brings together experts, policymakers, researchers, industry leaders,
and innovators to explore sustainable pathways for harnessing marine resources while
strengthening environmental safety and community resilience across Nigeria’s coastal zones.
The conference and exhibition would focus on workshops and panel discussions on sustainable
practices for fisheries, aquaculture, tourism, oil and gas operations in the blue economy, wind
and solar energy, maritime transport, and other ocean-related industries. Join us in shaping
policy dialogue, accelerating innovation, and forging partnerships within the Blue Economy.
This maiden edition is taking place in Bayelsa from where it would be moving round the
coastal states every year, showcasing the blue economy potentials and opportunities of the
host state.

2.0. ABOUT THE ORGANISERS OF IMABEC 2025
Institute of Maritime Studies (IMS), Niger Delta University (NDU), is one of the institutes of the
university. IMS-NDU, one of the six maritime institutes established through the visionary
initiative of NIMASA across the six geopolitical zones, plays a key role in developing professional
and academic manpower for Nigeria’s maritime and offshore industries.
IMS- NDU remains deeply committed to advancing Nigeria’s maritime and offshore capacities.
Given the growing prospects of the proposed Agge Deep Sea Port and the expansive coastal
assets of Bayelsa State, IMABEC 2025 is conceived as a flagship annual event aimed at shaping
the future of the marine and blue economy in Nigeria and across the Gulf of Guinea.
IMS – NDU is headed by a Director in the person of Engr. Capt. Charles Johnson PhD who is a
seasoned and experienced maritime professional.
3.0. HIGHLIGHTS OF IMABEC 2025
3.1.
Grand Opening Ceremony
IMABEC 2025 shall commence with a grand opening ceremony which would involve formal
welcome speeches from the Host of the event- the Vice Chancellor, Niger Delta University
Professor Allen Agih. The Chief Host, the Chairman of the Event, the distinguished guest of
Honor, several Special Guests and the Royal father of the Event.
There would be the event ribbon-cutting by the Lead Partners of IMABEC 2025; all aimed at
setting a positive tone and highlighting the IMABEC 2025 purpose and value. The ceremony
should be engaging, informative, and with the right music and entertainment.
3.2.
Sessions and Panel Discussions
Following the IMABEC protocols, the event would continue with sub theme sessions with the
sub theme topic delivered by a keynote Speaker followed by panel discussions. The panel is a
structured conversation featuring a group of maritime and offshore experts who would share
their knowledge and perspectives on a specific topic related the sub theme. It would be a
dynamic format that allows for diverse viewpoints and audience engagement through Q&A
session.
3.3.
Job Fair
To address the challenges of unemployment and lack of qualified and willing workforce in the
blue economy value chain, IMABEC will addition to the ongoing conference and exhibition
dedicate a hall as a career expo, where employers, recruiters, and educational institutions can
showcase their organizations and opportunities to job seekers who have submitted minimum of
ten folders copies of their CV and credentials for immediate appraisal by prospective
employers. This segment provides a platform for networking, exchanging information, and
meeting potential employers.
3.4.
Trade Exhibition
In parallel, a vibrant and comprehensive trade exhibition will showcase cutting-edge products
and services from across the maritime and blue economy value chain.
This trade exhibition within IMABEC 2025 setting provides a valuable platform for businesses to
showcase their products and services, network with industry professionals, and stay updated
on the latest trends. It combines the focused learning and discussion opportunities of the
conference with the direct engagement and promotional aspects of a trade show.

The conference will culminate in a Gala & Award Night, recognizing exceptional individuals and

sector as well as those persons, groups and Organisations that have contributed to the success
of IMABEC 2025
The Gala and Awards Night would be a formal, celebratory event designed to recognize
achievements and provide entertainment after a period of information sharing. It’s an
opportunity for networking, socializing, and enjoying a more relaxed atmosphere. These events
shall include a sit-down meal, speeches, awards presentations, and display of the rich Bayesian
culture and entertainment.
3.7.
Blue Ambassador
This award is another unique initiative of IMABEC to choose during the gala night, a deserving
and bona-fide student participants (one undergraduate and one postgraduate) who have been
exceptional during the whole event and have shown capacity and willingness to advocate the
marine and blue economy specific causes and philosophy in his place of academic studies. The
both student who must be studying a marine and blue economy related course shall be
rewarded with a one off scholarship to the tune of 500, 000 and several promotional kits.
This initiative is to promote the awareness and interest of the maritime profession amongst the
youths and propagate the opportunities of the blue economy in our educational
establishments.
The scholarship award shall be sponsored by and organisation or individual with the sum of 3
million naira and such a sponsor shall be called the BLUE CHAMPION

9.0. BOOKINGS AND PAYMENTS
9.1. Booking of Space
To book your exhibition space, please contact the Local Organising Committee (LOC) as early as
possible to avoid disappointments and rush. Your actions are as follows:
 Complete the attached Sponsors/Partners registration form
 Make payments and attached proof payment and completed form to the LOC
 Space allocation confirmation shall be sent to you by the LOC
 Begin your branding process. The LOC can brand your exhibition area at your request.
You shall be responsible for the cost of the branding
